SHL Emotional Intelligence Profiles
What is Emotional intelligence?
“Emotional Intelligence is the ability to use your understanding of emotions, in yourself and others, to deal effectively with people and problems in a way which reduces anger and hostility, develops collaborative effort, enhances life-balance and produces creative energy”
Dr. Mike Bagshaw
Why is it important?
In the business world it is seen as one of the keys to lasting success in that it is the:
- Ability to sense, understand, and effectively apply the power and acumen of emotions as a source of human energy, influence, trust, creativity and information
- Capacity to build people up, bring them together and motivate them to do their best
- Trust to build fruitful and productive relationships
- Resilience to perform under pressure
- Courage to make decisions
- Strength to persevere through adversity
- Vision to create the future
How is it used?
We tend to use SHL Emotional Intelligence (EI) profiles to support our individual or management development programmes. The report describes competencies key to the development of EI which can be defined as how well we understand our own feelings and emotions as well as those of others, and how well we manage our relationships with others.
Based on responses to an individual questionnaire, it provides a starting point for individuals to consider development needs that are key to both personal and organisational success.
The report is structured to provide a straightforward and easy to interpret profile. It is made up of an overall summary of EI development needs and then specific sections related to four key competencies – Feelings and Emotions, Personal insight, Empathy and Social Ease
Please get in touch if you would like more information on Emotional Intelligence or if you would like to complete your own profile
